Gang Beasts

I never thought I’d find a game that would make me as rage-filled as Gang Beasts. This game is absolutely brutal, and I love it.

Gang Beasts is a multiplayer brawler set in the fictional Beef City. The goal is simple: knock your opponents off of the stage to win. I like that the game features several different game modes, as it gives players a lot of options for how to play. However, the game is anything but simple. The controls are incredibly floaty and unresponsive, which makes it extremely difficult to land a hit on your opponents. Additionally, the stage is littered with hazards that can cause you to lose a fight even if you’re ahead. The game's colorful and cartoony graphics are reminiscent of a Saturday morning cartoon. The characters are gelatinous and have a rubbery feel to them, which makes them feel unique and fun to control. The environments are full of hazards, such as saw blades, acid pools, and high ledges, which add to the game's sense of peril. I like this type of graphics because it makes the game feel more light-hearted and fun, despite the fact that players are trying to eliminate each other.

The floaty controls are probably my biggest complaint about the game. It’s hard enough to land a hit on another player, but when you factor in the Hazards, it’s nearly impossible. I’ve had more than my fair share of frustrating moments where I’ve been one hit away from winning only to be knocked off the stage by a random environmental hazard. Despite the frustration, I can’t help but keep coming back to Gang Beasts. The game is just so darn addictive. The feeling of finally landing a hit on another player after a long string of misses is immensely satisfying. Additionally, the game is absolutely hilarious. The ragdoll physics combined with the wacky characters and environments create a recipe for laughter.

The Final Word

If you’re looking for a game that will make you rage, look no further than Gang Beasts. Just be warned, the controls can be incredibly frustrating. This is a game that is best enjoyed with friends, as the laughter that ensues is worth the price of admission.
