YouTube In-Stream Comment Translation and Smart Replies Available to Wider Audiences

When someone writes your comment in a language you don’t speak, you may copy the text and translate it with a third-party service. Or you can click one button and see it translated right on YouTube. Which option is easier? Now, more users will be able to enjoy YouTube’s built-in translation feature, as well as smart replies.

The built-in translating feature has been available on YouTube on both Android and iOS since September 2021. It uses the Google Translate engine, providing the same translation quality as the standalone app. Now, YouTube is integrating built-in translation into live streams, so the streamer can view the comments translated in real-time and reply to them instantly without wasting time.

Another addition relates to the recently introduced “Smart Replies” feature. With it, you can quickly reply to comments under your videos with suggested phrases (like “Thank you!”, “Same here!”, “More to come!”, etc.) The suggestions depend on the content of the original comment and enable you to give typical replies in just one tap. Now, they will also be available in Studio Mobile, given how greatly they can enhance any livestream.

Both these features were initially available only to a limited number of users participating in testing. Now, though, YouTube is rolling them out to all the users (though it may take a while). They aren’t the only change in the YouTube app. The final addition is moving the playlists into the Content Tab, where you can create new playlists with the “Create” button in the top right corner.
